EXECUTIVE BRIEF : What Changed? Violence did not sneak up on this country overnight. The human heart has been crooked since Eden. What changed is the restraint. We spent decades telling boys that manhood is a problem, telling girls that fathers are optional, and telling the whole culture that God is a private hobby at best. Then we acted stunned when cheap life, cheap sex, cheap drugs, and cheap excuses piled up in the streets. Schools dropped moral formation and called it progress. Cities stopped punishing repeat predators and called it compassion. Screens sold slaughter as entertainment and called it art. Churches too often traded repentance for applause. A people that will not name sin should not be surprised when blood follows. Law without virtue cannot hold. Order without truth will not last. That is what changed, and pretending otherwise is how a nation keeps bleeding.

PRACTICAL TIPS: Start with your own house. Lock the doors, know who belongs on your property, and keep a working plan if trouble shows up at night. Teach your children to pay attention in parking lots, stores, and school hallways instead of staring at a phone. Stay out of known trouble spots when you can. If your state allows lawful self-defense tools, get trained and stay current. Pray over your home, your route to work, and your church. Preparedness is not panic. It is stewardship in a hard age.
